Must Watch Food Documentaries – Part 1

hungry-for-change-oct-2

In today’s post, I wanted to share with you all a list of must watch food documentaries. While many people will argue that these food documentaries are biased, I think it is important for everyone to have access to the other side of the argument. For too long we’ve only had access to what the industrial agriculture industry wants to share with us. Here are several documentaries that can change your life! Even if you feel you’re life hasn’t changed, at least you leave with more knowledge than you started with.

When we have junior guests, I have always had one of these documentaries playing in the background. The one that had the most profound affect on our guests is Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead and Forks over Knives. Earthlings is also very good, but too gruesome to have it playing all the time. Now please don’t get the wrong  idea – I am not trying to turn all my guests into vegans. My main goal is to make more people aware of where their food comes from and what the effect of that food has on their body and environment. I am also aware that some people will find it very difficult to be a vegan or vegetarian. In this instance, I hope the documentaries motivate you to purchase locally sourced meat, preferably organic and from animals that have some exposure to daylight. If you’re struggling to pay high quality because it is too expensive, I suggest making friends with your local farmer and butcher. Perhaps you can clean or volunteer once or twice a week in exchange for a reduced price on the meat?

If you click on any of the title links, you will be redirected to the documentary’s website. Some documentaries are available on YouTube and I’ve added them here.  I highly recommend purchasing the videos to supporting the companies that made these videos. The documentaries are listed in the year they were released, commencing with the most recent.
